Description:
Maryland School for the Blind Outreach provides students at the Maryland School for the Blind (MSB) with an unrestricted creative outlet and a positive artistic experience, an atmosphere made possible by the support and encouragement of the Johns Hopkins volunteers.
Once a week, a group of Johns Hopkins volunteers visit the school and conduct an art session designed to engage the students at the MSB. Each week our art sessions consist of approximately eight to fifteen MSB students who range in visual, mental, and physical impairments. Some of the art projects we executed this past year include: magical wands, decorative kites, dream catchers, and customized tambourines. All of our projects are planned in advance by members to have heightened tactile or auditory qualities.
