Description:
Dictionary.com defines modern dance as "A style of theatrical dance that rejects the limitations of classical ballet and favors morvement deriving from the expression of inner feeling." It is this combination of movement and feeling that the JHU Modern Dance Company seeks to achieve.
The Modern Dance Company was founded in 1981 at Johns Hopkins University. It has been led by Ms. Marilyn Byers since its founding. It is comprised of both undergraduate and graduate students in addition to some faculty members. Participation in weekly classes is open to anyone affiliated with JHU, regardless of dance expterience.
Meeting Information:
Mattin Center dance studio (Offit Building): Tuesdays 7-9:30pm, Thursdays 7-9 pm, Saturdays 9-12 noon.
