Description:
The iGEM club works during the school year to plan and support the summer iGEM team. The purpose of an iGEM team at Johns Hopkins University would be to foster interdepartmental undergraduate research with the goal of competing with this work against other colleges.
The iGEM competition allows for a unique collaboration among undergraduate students, graduate students, and faculty. The goal of an iGEM team is to utilize the principles of molecular and synthetic biology to produce useful and creative biological systems/organisms. The mixed teams of undergraduate and graduate students compete separately at their respective universities in the summer, and then attend the "iGEM Jamboree" at MIT in November to present their summer's work.
Meeting Information:
We meet in the Spring semester, usually weekly. and during the Summer and Fall semester the club works on the selected iGEM project. Contact us at igem@jhu.edu for more info.
