Description:
Each Saturday, students meet and walk down to Remington together, where they share breakfast with residents who they will work alongside that day, and then work on various community revitalization.
Many of the projects we work on are day-to-day service projects like planting bulbs, working in the community garden, and picking up trash along major streets. We also on on-going projects to build new gardens.
Volunteers work with residents to plant trees and bushes to combat erosion and invasive non-native species along the Wyman Park Trail.
Additionally, Remington Outreach members work with the Homework Club which meets every Monday night. Students tutor Remington children, help them with their homework, and share a meal.
Members also work alongside and informally mentor Remington teenagers who are members of the Youth Conservation Corps, a group of Remington teens and pre-teens who work on the above projects for minimum wage.
