Description:
Hopkins Farmhands is a service group dedicated to raise awareness at Hopkins for agricultural non-profit organizations within the Baltimore community.
Our first project is done in conjunction with First Fruits Farm. This farm annually donates over 250,000 pounds of food to food banks. Our mission here at Hopkins is to help raise awareness and to increase their crop output by providing more hands. We will be helping with the growing, harvesting, and pruning.
Our second project at Farmhands involves working at Great Kids Farm, a project funded by the Baltimore School System. This 30 acre farm was built not only to provide food but also for educational purposes. Public schools in Baltimore can make trips to Great Kids Farm to educate students on various aspects of agriculture. At Great Kids Farm, we would be helping with projects around the farm as well as helping teach students about the food we eat and how it is made.
