Organization Details for Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. is an international organization of college and graduate women whose purpose is to encourage scholarship, friendship and service.  Alpha Kappa Alpha does not discriminate based upon race, religion or national origin.  The organiation's impact is felt throughout the world as its members come from various backgrounds and occupations.  Many have qualified among America's "first" in areas such as:  social service, medicine, business law, politics, education, performing arts, banking, foreign service, military and science and technology. 

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. was founded on January 15, 1908 at Howard University in Washington, DC and is the first sorority, founded by women of African descent.
